Your physician can remove almost all polyps and occasionally some early stage cancers during your procedure. Techniques employed to remove these lesions depend on size, shape, and location of the tissue.

Some larger polyps and those polyps or cancers that are flat and embedded in the colon wall may require surgery to be completely removed. If a biopsy is cancerous then endoscopy or surgery will be performed, whichever is most appropriate.
